Students collect box tops to help elementary school
Sixth periods are having a box top collecting competition hosted by Friends of Rachel (FOR) club to support Birmingham elementary.
Birmingham elementary is in need of more funding; parents and teachers alike are reaching out for help from Wylie East.
Box tops come on many store-bought items. Each box top is worth 10 cents.
“The money will be used to purchase supplies that will be benefit students and teachers,” FOR Club sponsor Megan Maxwell said.
The contest will run Oct. 15 to Oct. 26.
“Students with early release are still encouraged to bring box tops to benefit the cause,” Maxwell said.
Results will be announced Oct. 31 and the winning sixth period will get a pizza party sponsored by the FOR Club.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to give back to the community and support other students in our district,” Maxwell said. “I can’t wait to see how many box tops we collect.”
Check back later for the results of the competition.
