The Lady Raiders varsity basketball team played against the Royse City Bulldogs with a victory 57-41, Jan. 29.
The game started with a struggle of which team would make the first score. #41 junior Emily Hartegan brought the ball down for the first score. Hartegan was followed by #33 junior Raven Moore putting up more points on the board.
“We are a good team, full of great players and hard workers. We played as a team which led us to our victory,” freshman Kalia Gower said.
The Bulldogs offense played fast, but #10 sophomore Jazmin Shields managed to block multiple times giving Raiders the ball again.
“They were not a hard team, but we worked hard together making us the better team,” Gower said.
The top scorers for the game were #41 Emily Hartegan with 21 points, #33 Raven Moore with 8 points. #5 junior Nadja Jones 8 points, # 10 Jazmin Shields 7 points, #21 freshman Priscilla Murray 6 points, #50 Senior Ariel Rivers 4 points, #23 Freshman Kalia Gower 2 points and #4 freshman Hannah Moya with 1 point.
