Walking into the banquet hall, glittery lights shimmered as the event coordinator looked to the choir students and said, “Pick your seats.”

Students were invited by the district’s event coordinator to travel to the Reunion Tower for the annual Dallas veteran’s banquet to sing the Star Spangled Banner for those who have served the country on Nov. 11.

“The trip was an experience I’ll never forget,” senior Cory Booth said.

Minutes into eating, everyone lined up to sing the Star Spangled Banner.

“Get into your three rows,” choir director Terri Berrier reminded the group.

“It was an honor to sing for those who fought for this beautiful country,” senior Desmond Thornton said. Students got into their formations and sang for the honorary veterans attending the banquet.

“It felt like a treat to sing for them,” Salazar said.

Overall, the Raider singers reported the event as a “success.”

“My favorite part of the trip was the the buffet, man that was something,” Thornton said.

Students reported that they enjoyed taking time out of their busy days to serve those who have served and protected this country.

“I felt blessed to have this opportunity,” Booth said.
