On Nov. 7, my friend and I went to Swig during lunch to get their seasonal drinks that just came out. We both decided to try the new Dr. De Leche dirty soda. This soda consists of Dr. Pepper, dulce de leche, vanilla sauce and vanilla cream.
Swig is a drive-thru drink shop from Utah that specializes in “dirty sodas,” which are custom mixes of sodas with flavored syrups, cream and fruit purées. Founded in 2010, the chain has expanded to multiple states and also serves other beverages like energy drinks and teas, along with snacks like cookies and pretzel bites.
The Swig in Wylie is located on Highway 78 and is three minutes away from school. This means that during lunch students can go to Swig and get a dirty soda to enjoy. Not only is Swig close to school. It is also near Walmart and Fuel City. So, after you go grocery shopping or get gas you can enjoy a nice drink.
Swig is known for fast pick up and take out orders so the seating is limited. But, a lot of locations that Swig has around the U.S only have a drive through so the location in Wylie having a dine in option for people who prefer to sit down is a step up from their usual.
The overall atmosphere was very fun and bright. They have a very marketable menu and a good amount of items to choose from. Customers can even customize their drinks to their liking.
The prices at Swig are pretty good. It ranges from $1.50 up to $2.65 depending on which size you get. The price does increase if you add in different flavors but they are relatively cheap.
The new seasonal drink we got was really good. My friend and I love Dr. Pepper so I guessed that is why I loved it. I am also a huge fan of vanilla, it is one of my favorite flavors. The best part was the dulce de leche, it added a very unique taste.
Although the service was not good when we went, I have been to Swig multiple times before and usually they get drinks out in a timely manner. But, on this particular day, they were very busy. They had a lot of online pick-up orders and we were waiting at the register to order drinks but no one came because the workers were too busy with online orders. We decided to just sit down and order our food from the app. When we sat down and ordered our drinks from online, they finally decided to come to the register then to take other customers orders. Plenty of customers came after we arrived and they were all in and out with their drinks. But, our orders were still not ready yet. We basically were at Swig our entire lunch waiting for our drinks to be made. They did apologize but we should not have to wait a whole hour to get our dirty sodas.
Overall, I think it is a good place to go to try the new seasonal drinks at Swig. Just go during a time where they are not as busy. The taste, location, atmosphere and price were top tier so I would say that maybe we just went at a bad time of day.
