Dec. 22 to Jan. 2, students and staff will be off for winter break. On Dec. 19, students will be released early. So, instead of getting out of school at 4:20 p.m., they will be dismissed at 2:20.
Winter break provides pause before the second semester begins. Even if you are not traveling this year, after months of tests, assignments and deadlines, the break gives staff and students a chance to rest.
¨Actually having time to recover from all the assignments is my favorite part about winter break,” said junior Amir Mbilikia. ¨Just being able to take a break from school in general is the best.”
For many, winter break is also the perfect time to reconnect with loved ones. Whether going out to fun holiday events or simply enjoying cozy days at home, you can still find ways to enjoy the break.
¨During winter break, I plan to stay in and hang out with my family,¨ said Mbilikira.
Winter break is often a favorite among both students and staff because it is the longest break of the school year. It brings excitement knowing that once we return, the countdown to summer begins. The break also allows everyone to reset mentally and physically before heading into a busy second semester.
¨What I am looking forward to after winter break is summer being right around the corner,¨ said junior Yasmin Vandenboom.
