The 10th leading national cause of death is suicide. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, over 34,598 suicide deaths take place each year. Sep. 10 is national suicide awareness and prevention day. People near and far can be seen wearing yellow with love and or butterflies on their wrists. The butterflies symbolize where they’ve cut before and the love is showing they care. To get help or support for someone who may be contemplating suicide please call 1-800-273-TALK (8255), the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
