When Dutch Bros dropped their new seasonal menu on Nov. 1, right on time for the alleged holiday season- the day after Halloween- I saw the promo photos and was shocked. The marketing and photos on their website looked so Christmassy, festive and cheery. From the flavors, to the colors, to the festive cups and straws, the drinks looked delicious.
I went to Dutch Bros the next day, after thinking about the menu all day. I wanted to try everything- but I went with the safe option, a Holiday Cookie Freeze. The drink looked like a fun holiday treat, with creamy espresso, sprinkle cookie flavor, and jingle sprinkles.
My first let down was that they didn’t give me a super cute Christmas cup, as displayed on the menu. I saw a few other people’s drinks, and they all had the Christmas cups, not the default Dutch Bros one, so this was disappointing, but I knew it wasn’t the end of the world since what really mattered was the flavor.
The Holiday Cookie Freeze was definitely yummy, but it wasn’t as Christmassy as I’d desired. It was super sweet and it was good, but it wasn’t my favorite from Dutch Bros. Even the limited addition for fall Cookie Butter flavor was better than the Holiday Cookie flavor. It wasn’t anything special, but it was definitely still a good sweet treat.
After trying one thing from the seasonal menu, I’m definitely interested in trying a few more. The Candy Cane Mocha looks very Christmassy, and the Hazelnut Truffle Hot Cocoa looks perfect for a cold winter day.
