Birdie brings down the house

Birdie brings down the house

Let me just start off by saying that I thoroughly enjoyed Bye Bye Birdie. The first act was great and the second really brought it home! Everyone in the production did a fantastic job.

I did have few favorites however.

To name a few:

Kayla Farrias as Kim Macafee, her singing was great and fun to listen to, and she played her part very well. Kayla fit the role of Kim nicely.

JJ Rosales as Mr. Harry Macafee, his acting was just hilarious to watch, especially when he showed his excitement for the Ed Sullivan show, I was laughing right along with the rest of the crowd. His facial expressions were too funny!

Josh McGuire as Conrad Birdie was another one of my favorites, though a man of few words, or so it seemed in the first act, I felt he did an awesome job; his singing was great and fun to listen to. He portrayed a star from that era quite nicely. He had the look and everything.

Last but definitely not least, Stephanie Delgado as Rose Alvarez, I just loved her singing. It was very beautiful and she played the part of Rose very well. She had the crowd roaring from her “Spanish Rose” number in the middle of the second act. She did fantastic, and she was definitely a crowd favorite.

I would highly recommend going to see Bye Bye Birdie. It has a bit of comedy, a little heartbreak and a bit of a love story. It’s got a little something for everyone. So go out and see our theatre and choir departments put on a great show. The next shows are Friday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m.

Hi! I’m Sara Grosvenor. I’m a senior this year! It’s my first year on the newspaper staff. I’m editor in chief of the yearbook and I would have to say that yearbook is my favorite class of the day! I love sports and I am proud to be part of Raider Nation! I’m an easy going person who knows when to be serious, and my favorite outside of school activity would definitely be photography and singing loudly in my car, even if I’m a little out of tune!
