First pep rally leads varsity football to victory

Bang here and a boom there, the first pep rally of the season had the student section roaring with excitement. With an appearance by the Sapphires, cheerleaders, the new DJ “The Mouth,” and even Mr. Williams

The bangs of drums and clashes of cymbals, the marching band could be heard from every classroom, sparking the excitement of each spirited student. Sophomore Tristan Eckert was among these excited students.

“I love it when people give their all,” Eckert said, “And the band was definitely enjoying the moment.”

Behind the bangs come the smooth sound of the Saxophone section. Sophomore Kainan Godfrey has been with the band since freshman year and has gotten into the swing of things.

I think we’ve been practicing these pieces since August, when summer band started. I enjoyed playing those tunes for the school.

“I think we’ve been practicing these pieces since August, when summer band started,” Godfrey said. “I enjoyed playing those tunes for the school.”

As the students settled into their rightful spots, the cheerleaders stepped in to raise the buzz, followed by the Sapphires.

“I really liked when the cheerleaders and the Sapphires danced,” chemistry teacher Amy Tietjen said. “I liked the two different styles.”

In a matter of minutes, the new school DJ made his way to the floor with a stunning appearance. His cape billowed as he walked to the middle of the floor and the lettering “The Mouth” was on his bright red cape in sparkly silver.

His booming voice elevated the excitement to a whole new level. The wild crowd became a roaring crowd and there was no stopping the need to win with these students.

Keeping the pep up, the students and staff filed out of the gym with their eyes on the prize, and the pep paid off as the varsity football game ended in victory against Red Oak 49-7 Aug.28.
