The hallways were plastered with school spirit and no, not just the students dressed up in different costumes. There were drawings, paintings and signs even, graffiti on the windows galore. Students from every class, including senior class secretary Marissa Edenstrom and sophomore Brooke Vincent, volunteered to spend a few hours on Sunday, Sept. 23, decorating the halls for the first annual class hall decorating competition.
The decorating took hours to do and Edenstrom and Vincent both offered to spend their time to help decorate their class hallways because they felt they had some good ideas to bring to the table.
“I believed I had some really great contributions that would help my class win,” Edenstrom said.
Edenstrom said that this was the first year to do this competition. She thought there were some things that could be changed or tweaked to make it more successful.
“We need to get the word out a little better because we could have used a few more helping hands,” Edenstrom.
Vincent and her class faced a few obstacles along the way as well.
“It was hard trying to plan everything out with all the different ideas to make sure we have the best hallway,” Vincent said.
Despite the difficulties that each class faced, Edenstrom said she enjoyed herself and loved spending time with her classmates.
“This brought us together and made us help each other because we were all working for the same thing and we wanted to get it all finished, and it was so much fun,” Edenstrom said.
Edenstrom said that even though all the classes did a great job with their halls she still thinks that the senior hallway was the best.
“Everybody did awesome, but the seniors have the best hallway because we coordinated with our theme best,” Edenstrom said.
Edenstrom said even though she’s a senior, she would love for the underclassmen to continue doing this competition.
“I loved it; it was so much fun and I would love for it to happen again, even if this is my last year here,” Edenstrom said. “It’s a great feeling knowing that my class and I were part of making a tradition.”
Dr. David Vincent and others from the district walked the halls and judged each one Thursday, Sept. 27 and the winners will be announced Monday, Oct. 1.
