Future softball players step into seniors’ shoes

This year’s senior night was an emotional roller coaster for the players. Tears were shed and hugs were given.

“It meant a lot to me just to see everybody so emotional that night,” senior Libby Foster said.

Each senior gave a few last words to her parents, coaches and teammates.

After their speeches were given, they each received a sentimental gift to remember their days as a Lady Raider softball player.

“We got a softball embroidered with our name, flowers and a cup with stickers and memories and candy,” Foster said.

The coaches brought out four girls to “fill” the seniors’ shoes. All seniors then took off their cleats and let the girls step into them.

“It brought to my mind that we were actually a family and it’s almost over,” Foster said. “It’s eye opening because you’ve had four years of consistency with the same people and you’ve seen the seniors leave and now that’s us.”

The team then played the Denison Yellow Jackets and fell short 4-2.
