What not to forget at prom

There’s a lot of planning that goes into prom. The dress, the suit, the limo, the tickets; all of these are important parts of the evening that are impossible to overlook, but something students might not yet be thinking about is the flowers.

Prom tradition has always included the corsage and boutonniere, but at this stage of prom planning it could easily be overlooked.

Here’s a few pieces of advice for those students who are still unsure about what kind of flowers to get their date.

When to do it: Visit the flower shop at least one to two weeks prior to the night of prom so the florist can special order the flowers.

How to make sure they’ll like it: Bring in a swatch of the dress to match the color or bring the dress itself. Don’t be afraid to ask about their favorite color and/or favorite flower.

Coming in separately: If this is the case, make sure to tell each other about the flowers already purchased.

Still need more advice? Visit Wylie Flower Shop’s online gallery at their website www.wylieflowershop.com/galleryprom.php to get more ideas.

Prom is a night no student will forget. Hopefully the flowers won’t be forgotten either.

Howdy:) My name is Aarika! I’ve been a vegetarian for three years and my favorite genre of music is Country. I’m obsessed with Miley Cyrus and I still watch Hannah Montana on DVD (plus I beat the video game three times). After graduation, I plan on going to college for middle school education and specializing in English Literature. Then I’m going to take my degree and join the Peace Corps and help educate third world countries before returning back to Texas and becoming a middle school teacher and accomplishing my biggest dream: becoming an author. Follow me on twitter! @urrrrkaaa P.S. I’m going to co-star in Pretty Little Liars one day so yeah.
