Behind the screen \\ Senior Jada Edmonds participates in school from home via a Google meet on her Chromebook. Wylie ISD offered both on-campus and remote learning to students. Edmonds chose the remote-learning option to protect her and her family during the pandemic. “I thought it was the safest option,” Edmonds said. “If there’s a remote option, that means it‘s clearly not safe to return. Plus, I get sick easily.”

Sick and tired \\ Junior Ashleigh Bycott contracted the COVID-19 coronavirus over the summer. She knows how important safety and abiding by the rules are during the pandemic. “Now, I really make sure to go by the guidelines and be careful,” Ashleigh said. “I try my best to stay safe and do my part. My advice is to be careful. Don’t share drinks or throw parties. Just do what you can for yourself and the people you love.”

Time’s up \\ Running at the Desoto track meet Feb. 22, senior Emily Flores competes in one of her final high school runs. The track season, and all spring sports, were cut short due to the coronavirus quarantine. Flores will continue running at Cowley College in the fall. The past three years all the work Ive put in feels like it has gone to waste,” Flores said. “It was supposed to be my big year. I didnt want to end my high school career like this.”
