Mr. Tracy Vernon’s Vet Medicine class dissected goat’s brains for a class activity March 5 – 6.
Each group of two was to take apart the brain and identify the parts of it and what the functions were.
Vet Medicine deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease, disorder and injury in animals.
“It smelled really awful,” junior Rachel Angle said.
The brain is enclosed in a tough outer covering called the dura mater which the students had to tear off.
“It was really cool to see how the brains work and what they look like inside,” junior Colin Wallis said.
Afterwards each group identified the parts and functions while wearing safety goggles and gloves.
