Student sees ghost on Lexington
Boarding the haunted ship, Freshman Chase Thompson believes he saw a ghost on the ROTC field trip taken Sept. 20-22 to Corpus Christi. The ROTC members toured the USS Lexington and stayed overnight to experience life on board the ghostly ship.
“I saw the ghost in the engine room of the USS Lexington and it made me feel disbelief like it wasn’t really real when it was,” Thompson said.
The ghost has been seen as a man in a uniform by many of the Lexington visitors.
“He was in a tan Navy uniform with blonde hair and blue eyes and he showed me around the engine room explaining what everything was and then walked through a wall and was gone,” Thompson said.
The ghost has been seen by many other people as well. Sergeant Smith said his wife saw it on a previous trip.
“I am the only one that saw it on the trip, but other people in the past have also seen him,” Thompson said.
The USS Lexington ship, also known as the ‘Blue Ghost’, has been struck by multiple Japanese torpedoes and has never sunk. It is now stationed in Corpus Christi as a museum and can be toured by the public.
