Top-ranking seniors eligible for Birmingham scholarships

The Miss Pearl Birmingham Scholarship is a unique scholarship for the Wylie ISD high schools.

Each Wylie ISD high school will receive three $15000 scholarships and five $2500 scholarships.

To be eligible to apply, the student must be ranked in the top 10 percent of his or her class, have good moral character, be a graduate of Wylie High School or Wylie East High School, received all high school credits in Wylie ISD, have taken the ACT and SAT and have received the scores by March of senior year.

The number of students eligible to apply for the scholarships is limited to the top eight academically ranked students from each high school who meet these guidelines.

The academic rating is calculated at the end of the fifth six weeks prior to the student’s graduation. In addition to meeting these requirements, the student must submit an autobiography and have a personal interview with school superintendents from Collin, Dallas and Rockwall counties.

Friday, Feb. 10, the potential scholars will meet with school administrators to receive the Birmingham guidelines, information and deadlines for test scores.

Caitlyn Bogart, Co-Editor In Chief
Good day, evening, afternoon or whatever time of day it happens to be while you read this, I hope you’re having a great time. I am a senior and Editor in Chief. I look forward to making our team as strong and seamless as possible. I honestly have no idea how to write this. You would think I would be better considering I’ve done this for three years running, but I’m a news writer. I am much better at writing about others. Writing is a huge part of my life. I plan on majoring in Business Marketing and English with a creative writing minor because I also write fiction books, one of which will be published this year for my Texas Performance Study Program (TPSP) project, so watch out! I live inside my head a lot and enjoy long philosophical conversations. I kind of feel like I just wrote an ad for a dating site. Didn’t mean to, but it happened.
