Upperclassmen receive new EAST privileges

This year upperclassmen have earned new privileges during EAST time at the end of the day.

Ninth and tenth graders are assigned to a seventh period homeroom, except students involved in cheer, drill team, and girls athletics. Ninth graders will participate in an enrichment program on Tuesdays and Thursdays led by Mrs. Lindsay and the SEAL team. This program will start the second week of school. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays ninth graders may stay in their homeroom, attend tutorials or go to a computer lab or testing center. Tenth graders have these same privileges every day of the week.

Eleventh and twelfth graders are allowed to leave campus early unless they are: failing any class, have an in school or out of school suspension or have more than two unexcused absences. These criteria will be reevaluated at the end of every six weeks allowing students the chance to regain early release eligibility at the beginning of every six weeks. To be excused students must report to the commons area where EAST monitors will supervise their release. Students are only allowed to exit the building through the cafeteria. Eleventh and twelfth graders are also allowed to attend tutorials, go to a computer lab or go to a testing center every day of the week.

Caitlyn Bogart, Co-Editor In Chief
Good day, evening, afternoon or whatever time of day it happens to be while you read this, I hope you’re having a great time. I am a senior and Editor in Chief. I look forward to making our team as strong and seamless as possible. I honestly have no idea how to write this. You would think I would be better considering I’ve done this for three years running, but I’m a news writer. I am much better at writing about others. Writing is a huge part of my life. I plan on majoring in Business Marketing and English with a creative writing minor because I also write fiction books, one of which will be published this year for my Texas Performance Study Program (TPSP) project, so watch out! I live inside my head a lot and enjoy long philosophical conversations. I kind of feel like I just wrote an ad for a dating site. Didn’t mean to, but it happened.
