A fragmented murder, a scandalous event, no one knows until the very end. The Rimers of Eldritch, a play by Lanford Wilson, was brilliantly performed by the main stage theatre crew. The entire play centers around a murder and the assumed murderer is Skelly, a “crazy” old man, but in the end the viewer quickly discovers Skelly was an innocent man who was indeed the one murdered. In this play, as with most stories, the resolution is not nearly as important as how they get there and the brilliant moments performed by a talented cast and crew.
Highlights of the play included the many rants of Brianna Nelson as Patsy Johnson, a teenager of Eldritch, itching to get out of town to the bright lights of “Centerville”. Aubree’ Keller as Cora Groves chilled the audience with her wails as Allen Gilliss, who played the character Walter, leaves her. An outstanding performance of the character Robert Conklin, played by Luke Meyer, who in the end was the true criminal; though he did not fire the shot that killed Skelly, he caused the entire event to happen. Other honorable mentions for a wonderful performance and impressive stage presence are JJ Rosales as Skelly Mannor, Kelli Goodson ad Nelly Windrod and Morgan Howard as Mary Windrod.
Though, at times, confusing this play was beautifully written and wonderfully performed. Five stars to the actors and crew who made it all happen. Thank you for such an enjoyable performance.
