17-year-old Cammie Snow Stretch passed away Friday Sept. 18 due to a fatal gunshot.

“This situation is really upsetting and it’s hard to wrap my head around that my best friend is really gone,” Jillian Shelhorse, Cammie’s best friend, said.

Stretch’s friends and family gathered this weekend to pray and release pink and zebra print balloons into the sky in honor of her.

Stretch’s funeral is at the Allen Funeral Home in Wylie, Texas, at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25.

This weekend God gained an angel. She is definitely in a happier, better place and will never be hurt again.

“It really breaks my heart because I never thought I would be burying my best friend at 17,” Shelhorse said.

Wylie East and McKinney North students, family and staff plan to dress in pink and zebra print in honor of Stretch at the varsity football game Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. at Wylie Stadium.

“She would love this. She will definitely be there with us wearing pink because she loves that color,” Shelhorse said.

Mr. James Hood’s classes are making and selling pink “WE Remember Cammie” t-shirts. Students can order these from Sept. 28 – Oct. 9 in room 416 or in the office. Short sleeve shirts are $15 and long sleeve shirts are $20. All proceeds will go to the Stretch family.

“This weekend God gained an angel,” Shelhorse said. “She is definitely in a happier, better place and will never be hurt again.”
