Varsity cheer welcomes new coach for the 2014-2015 season

A new cheer season began March 21 with new members and a new coach. Caryn Seed, a Special Education teacher, will take over varsity cheer head coach, Amanda Lannan’s, position.

Lannan will retire from the coaching position to focus on her family and personal life after dedicating it to cheer for the last seven years.

“It is sad to say that I will not be the cheer sponsor, but it is a new chapter in my life to begin focusing on other areas,” Lannan said.

Seed cheered her freshman through senior year at Duncanville High School and was on the competition team that went to NCA Nationals all four years she attended DHS. She danced as a child too.

“I love going to competition and competing. It is one of my favorite things,” Seed said. “I like to get my groove on too.”

Seed has high expectations coming into the program.

“Expectations I have are for everyone to try their best in everything they do,” Seed said. “As well as respect each other and work together as a team.”

Seed decided to be the coach a month ago and was quickly approved.

“I hope that all the girls on the squad are as excited as I am because I think this year will be a lot of fun,” Seed said.

When she is not watching the Yankees or reality TV, Seed likes to sing.

Seed began her career at east right before Christmas break this school year. She is married to her high school sweetheart who she shares two puppies with, Buster a beagle and Riley a black lab.

OMG! Hi. I’m Kyleigh Anderson, your Sports Editor. LOL. I’m a varsity cheerleader. GO RAIDERS! I’m like totally in love with writing, but only journalism and especially sports. I’m an obnoxious and clumsy blonde, obvi as you can totally tell in my pic. Anyway, I’ve been a part of journalism with Mrs.Thedford for four years. She’s my fav. So is the color pink. Yeah. So, my friends and my family are my world. Especially my baby brothers, Coleton and Caden. OH! And my boyfriend Brady. I’m all about school spirit. I talk really loud, fast and of course a lot. I’m not one to sit still and I’m always up to do something totally out of the ordinary. You’ll fall in love with my pretty face easily, so watch out. I mean, who doesn’t love your typical blonde cheerleader? LOL. On a serious note… I’m not at all your stereotypical blonde cheerleader. I’d love to attend Baylor University to study, as well as major in communications or event planning. I aspire to make a mark in this world and leave a legacy behind. I’ll always follow my arrow wherever it points. I’m an active member of the class of 2015 and huge on Raider Nation. Friday Night Lights are what I look forward to every week and they will always be a part of my life. Living for our fallen Raiders Nahum, Andy, and Ivan. The quote “It’s a great day to be alive and a great day to be a Raider” exemplifies my life.
