How far is too far?

Zip ties

A recent and unusual epidemic is plaguing the school and it goes by the name “zip ties”.  Zip-tying is the act of taking a zip-tie and closing it on a person’s backpack or other item, making it difficult and aggravating to open.

Zip-tying started as a simple prank to be played on a fellow classmate, and when the victim discovered himself zip-tied everyone would share a laugh and we would move on with our day. Recently, however, zip tying has gone overboard.

I have personally witnessed people’s shoes being tied to each other and their desks, and when they ask for the scissors they themselves have been zip-tied shut making it impossible to remove the ties. At one point, I saw a group of three students tie every single zipper on the victim’s backpack shut and to top it off they also tied it to his desk.

This problem even caught the attention of Principal Mike Williams, forcing him to make an announcement that if anyone was caught zip-tying there would be serious repercussions. Even with the warning, I still witness students going around and preying on unknowing fowl.

Once again students have taken a simple joke and turned it into something to be feared because we just don’t know when to stop.
