Soon it’ll be summer

Soon it’ll be summer

Procrastination and laziness takes full fold; with it being the end of the year students slack

Procrastination is just one of the common traits among teenagers; there is always a handful of people who will not do their work and put it off to the last minute. In modern day society even some adults try to pull off procrastinating, but overall it isn’t a smart choice and just turns out to be a bundled mess. Now with summer so close and it being the end of the year students are losing motivation to continue to do their schoolwork well and tend to be procrastinating the most they have throughout the year.

Students feel that with the year drawing close to an end they don’t have to try as hard as they could to bring their grades up. As long as they’re passing the semester and can move forward in high school, trying harder isn’t a concern. This almost completely defiles the idea of working hard to begin with if towards the end students are just going to slack.

Possibly one of the reasons why students start to procrastinate so much is the workload towards the end of the year; the end of the year is stressful because students are trying to get everything done and out of the way. There are also important tests and projects towards the end of the year:  TAKS, AP testing, finals, etc. Being absent also broadens the stress; work piles up and students are no longer able to really keep up with their grades. Students start to fail or their grades start to drop without any intention, even when being hard workers. Some of them just throw up their hands and give up.

There may be a lot of reasons why students towards the end of the year start to slack off. There is one true fact though: It is stressful; but it’s always going to be stressful. Just because it’s towards the end of the year doesn’t give any reason to slack. Take for example the end of the first semester, students still try hard to study for their exams and then start fresh when the second semester comes around. Even though the end of the year has a bit more testing and projects, students should have a different mindset from slacking and giving up. Instead, think about how the school year is almost over and how students can leave the school year knowing they worked hard.

Overall procrastinating and slacking is a bad idea. There are a lot of excuses as to why people procrastinate and slack, but they should just try their hardest and try to continue working hard.

Students should try to work hard, despite summer being so close. There are of course some exceptions when work does get too hectic, but keep on trying to keep those grades up; students should try to work as hard as they can.  Summer is close and once it’s here, just imagine how school is over and how there won’t be any more work.
