She’s obsessed with Criminal Minds. She hates when people crack their joints. She’s always either working behind the scenes or on stage to make sure the theater’s shows run smoothly. Long story short, she’s Addi Autrey.
What theater productions have you been involved in? What were your roles?
For musicals: Anastasia, Little Mermaid, Grease and I’ll be in Into The Woods. For the One Act Plays: Ugly Lies the Bone, 33 Variations, Front, 10 out of 12, and then I’ve been in three of the Murder Mysteries. I’ve been an actor in all of the musicals, my freshman year I was assistant to the director for our One Act Play, then I was an actor my sophomore year and junior year I was the stage manager. For Chad’s Night Out I was the associate producer, and then for Murder Mystery I was the student director.
What are the best and worst aspects of being in a play?
The best aspects are getting to be with my theater family; we have a very tight community, and even though sometimes we get mad at each other, we all love each other. I also love the performance aspect; when people get to see what we’ve done and they clap it’s such a high. The lows would probably be waking up early and staying late, and trying to balance the stress of plays with homework.
When and why did you become interested in theater?
It was seventh grade in Ms. Poston’s room, and I was listening to the announcements when I heard that they were holding auditions for Fiddler on the Roof. I wanted to try out because I’m loud and need attention so I wanted something to do with that, and also I liked singing and had done Oral Reading in UIL since 3rd grade, which is kind of in the same realm as theater.
What other activities are you involved in?
I’m in NHS and I’m also an officer in ITS, which is the club that’s associated with the theater class.
What are your plans after high school?
I want to go to Collin for two years and become a 911 dispatcher.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Still in Wylie, because I want to be a 911 dispatcher in Wylie, and by that time I would be moved up to either manager of the floor or somewhere else in the city system.
