The girls’ basketball team represented themselves well in the district with an overall total of seven 13-4A All-District awards presented to them Feb. 19.

All-district awards are determined by the fellow district coaches who vote on coach of the year, first team all-district, second team all-district and honorable mentions.

“I was very pleased with our overall season,” head coach Lance Edge said. “Our team practiced and played hard all season long. We beat some teams in district play for the first time ever and that should give us great momentum for next season.”

After his first year as a Raider, Edge was awarded coach of the year after his varsity team finished district with a 9-5 record.

“I was very shocked that I received the honor,” Edge. “I definitely know that the award belongs to our entire coaching staff and our team for being coachable.”

First team all-district was awarded to senior Emily Hartegan and senior Raven Moore. Hartegan had 16 points and 10 rebounds during district. Moore had 7 points and 8 rebounds during district.

Second team all-district was awarded to freshman Breanna Stephens and sophomore Hannah Moya.

Honorable mention was awarded to sophomore Priscilla Murray and junior Jazmin Shields.

“We represented the district well and I am very proud to see six of our players receive an individual accolade,” Edge said. “I know that all six players were excited to hear the news, and they give credit to their teammates for helping them along the way.”
