The freshmen boys basketball team wins district with a 12-2 record for the first time in school history.

This team was coached by first time freshman basketball Coach Matt Tietjen. Coach Tietjen has coached basketball, soccer, football and track.

“My favorite moment of the season was watching the team come together and play as a team as we won district,” Tietjen said.

Forward Johnny Bayona has played basketball for three years.

“Everybody’s mentality of staying together and the will to win is why our team did so well,” Bayona said.

Power Forward Jalen Jefferson, who has also played at Lyles Middle School and on the Sachse Rockets says the worst part of the basketball season was their first loss against Lovejoy and the score was 58-65.

“I thought we were going to be undefeated,” Jefferson said.
