It’s ironic how the first single dropped by disc jockey and music artist Alesso is named ‘Cool’, when it’s the complete opposite of that.

Alessandro Lindblad, or better known for his stage name of Alesso, grew up in Stockholm, Sweden, and started DJing at the age of 18. He went from remixing other’s music to creating his own, in his bedroom. Now at the age of 23, he’s released his eighth single titled ‘Cool’.

Rather than being a cool song though, it might as well be a techno 80s repugnant version of David Guetta, just featuring Alesso. The pitch of his voice accompanying the electric keyboard is too much. Then the echoing rhythmatic chorus on top of it all is enough to turn it off there.

In the beginning you think the song is about his rise to fame but then it totally drifts into random directions. It’s actually about his love for a girl.

The opening verse in ‘Cool’ by Alesso is:

I saw stars on the pavement, California dreams… You said it’s all yours if you take it, I said I can’t do it alone I swear.

But wait, it gets worse. If you follow that same love story concept to his music video, it’s about a nerdy guy in high school (who, might I add, looks five times the age of any given high school student to begin with, making it even creepier) who is having an affair with his teacher.

The video consists of Alesso trying to learn how to dance, and by dance I mean specifically just the pelvic thrust. Literally. And by the end his teacher is stripping her clothes off surrounded by desks. Next thing we know it’s prom. The whole three minutes and 43 seconds was quite the roller coaster.

As for the rest of the album, it drops later this year. Buy it if you’re brave or flat out enjoy all pitch, no bass techno music. Just remember when Meghan Trainor said ‘All About That Bass’ she meant more than just girls’ thighs.

His single artist attempt wasn’t appealing, his paired songs where he created remixes for other artists came out incredible. If he stuck to just DJing, he would go further.

Even though he’s based in Europe, his tour came to America in March and ran through June but only to music festivals like Ultra, Coachella and iHeart Radio.
