Ultimate Raider contest brings out spirit
Covid-19 can’t put a damper on school spirit.
Students and staff members dressed in their best Raider spirit gear to show off at the annual Ultimate Raider contest.
At the end of third period Friday, Sept. 25, Principal Tiffany Doolan asked all students and staff wishing to participate in the contest to report to the cafeteria.
Student council members instructed the contestants to stand in a circle, socially-distanced of course. The assistant principals made their way around judging and snapping pictures of each contestant’s spirit wear.
Students created custom jeans, overalls and dresses to showcase their spirit of the navy, blue and white colors of the school.
“Ashlynn [Woods] and I bought overalls together and painted them with inside jokes, school sayings and colors,” senior Hannah Vaclavik said.
Past winner English Teacher Mrs. Elizabeth Simmons was painted from head to toe, literally.
“I couldn’t have done the makeup without the help of my talented daughter, Emily,” Mrs. Simmons said.
After much consideration, the judges announced juniors Kaleigh Adams, Miles Maresch and teaching aide Mrs. Sharon Hanes as the 2020 Ultimate Raiders.
