BPA wins top honors

The Business Professionals of America members represented at the Regional Leadership Conference Jan. 14. Twenty seven students participated at the BPA competition and brought home 18 awards.
“The following students placed high enough in their competitions to automatically earn a spot at the State competition in Dallas in March,” BPA advisor Mr. James Hood said.
Gissella Martinez – 1st in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures
Bianka Rodriguez – 1st in Personal Financial Management
Hephzibah (Jimmi) Olajimi – 2nd in Human Resources Management
Stefany Reyes – 2nd in Payroll Accounting
Cody Hogan – 2nd in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures
Allie Dorsey – 2nd in Interview Skills
Layne Parrish – 2nd in Network Administration Using Microsoft
Chahendra Dues – 3rd in Advanced Word Processing
Jason Chu – 3rd in Payroll Accounting
Thalia Morales – 3rd in Medical Office Procedures
Gabriel Moreno – 4th in Integrated Office Applications
The following students also took home medals and will serve as State alternates with the possibility of competing if another region does not send enough competitors:
Brandon Spiegel – 3rd place Entrepreneurship
Kyle Sproul – 4th place Graphic Design Promotion
Sarah Karacic – 4th place Interview Skills
Charles Tucker – 4th place Computer Modeling
Ezra Martinez – 5th place Entrepreneurship
Abel Elias – 5th place Medical Office Procedures
The team of Charles Tucker, Ethan Umanos, Layne Parrish also took 4th place in Computer Animation and will be State alternates.
“I am very proud of the students for their hard work and numerous hours preparing for the competition. We look forward to progressing past State to the National Leadership Conference in Orlando in May,” Mr. Hood said.
BPA students will compete next at the State competition in Dallas March 2-4.
