National Honor Society runs Frisbee tournament

The Ultimate Frisbee tournament is May 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. To sign up, go see Mrs. Amy May in room 953. The tournament is open to students, parents, staff and even alumni. The only requirements are that teams must have at least two National Honor Society members per team and at least one female per team.

“We are wanting this to be a school wide participation since it’s such a fun event,” senior Elisabeth Teitelman said.

The field rules are only five to seven people on the field at a time. There can be two subs if anyone gets tired. The game is located on the practice field.

“We are expecting a lot of teams this year since we have been advertising prior to the event,” Tietelman said.

National Honor Society does not receive the proceeds, but instead they are used for the campus in various projects in the upcoming year. In the past, the money has been used for picnic tables and the Super E-rock logo at the front of the school.

“We are hoping at least 10 teams will sign up to play. Of course, we would love to have more teams, and we welcome spectators and cheering sections as well,” National Honor Society CO-Advisor Amy May said.

Funds from last year are going towards the legacy project making a blue “Super E” light to be projected out front at night. NHS is hoping for an even bigger turn out from the past years, to make next year’s project even bigger than this year’s.

“We really want everyone to come out and participate in the Ultimate Frisbee tournament. There will be snacks, Gatorade, and a lot of fun. Everyone also gets to play two games since it’s a double-elimination bracket. We look forward to seeing everyone there and hope the school supports our efforts of hosting an Ultimate Frisbee tournament,” Tietelman said.
