A hail of a tale: Syrina’s story
April 15, 2016
One hail of an evening
Cramped together in one small bathroom, freshman Syrina Cao and the rest of her family listen to the sound of hail hitting the roof and the side of their house. It started out as a normal day, nothing too exciting happening just yet. Nobody had a clue of what was bound to happen that day.
“We just thought it was going to rain, then my mom saw the clouds and said it looked like tornadic clouds and my mom says we need to take cover,” Cao said.
As they sit in their bathroom with not a single window in sight, they could hear the hail breaking windows and coming through the roof.
“When we came out of the bathroom and saw the damage, my mom started crying because our house was practically ruined.”
Once the weather was clear they went outside to look at the damage on the outside of the house. They walked out of the front door to check the cars and see what the house looked like from the outside. Her family didn’t think things could get any worse.
“My mom just stared at her car when she saw it and was very shocked. She didn’t have a back window. The tail light was busted out, and on the top there were four big dents.
The hail did a pretty good amount of damage to Cao’s family’s cars and home.
“The good thing is we took cover and nobody ended up getting hurt.”
