The Sapphires held their annual showoffs in the competition gym January 29 at 6:30 p.m.

“The purpose was to show family and friends what the competition will look like and how far we’ve come,” Sapphire Emily Wygant said.

The Sapphires performed five team dances, four officer dances and four solos all following their mythical places theme.

“Pom, the Star Wars dance, was my favorite. I just really like the song and it looks really good on the floor,” Wygant said.

Before each performance the girls engage in a special ritual lead by Captain Ruthie Walker.

They will take their dances to competition at Rockwall Health Feb. 6.

“I definitely think that was our best performance yet. The adrenaline really helps with our facials,” Wygant said.
