Anime Club is back and better then ever.

In the beginning of the year, juniors Ariel Comparetto, Lindsey Brandow and sophomore Jesse Garcia kicked off the Anime Club.

We watch anime, do origami, learn about Japanese culture and compare it to ours. We also do community service every once in a while, and plan to have a Christmas party, and maybe a booth at Boo on Ballard.

“We started the club originally to find a community of people who enjoyed anime as much as we did. However, as time went by, it maintained based off of the connections we made with the shows, culture and people,” Brandow said. “I believe the club is important because of these bonds and interests. I feel people must be welcomed into a community they can grow close to easily, even if they are only curious about the culture.”

Tech theatre teacher Bekka Glaze, sponsor of the Anime Club, usually lets the club hold meetings inside of her classroom or the black box, depending on how many members show up.

“Based on how many people signed up at freshmen orientation, we have an estimated amount of 40 new members,” Comparetto said.

The club usually meets on Wednesdays after school from 4:30-5:20. They always have some activity planned, as well as talk about plans for future events.

To join the club, ask one of the leaders. They will give details about what to do and how many meetings to attend to be classified as a member.
