Every Sept. 23 kids and teachers all across America gather for See You at the Pole to pray for their school and for their nation.

“All the students meet near the flag pole and we usually have a special speaker, praise and worship, and then we group up and pray for different things,” senior Taylor Manivanh said. “The event went really well. It felt calm and peaceful; you could feel God’s presence.”

Junior Temi George helped lead the worship with her guitar and two friends, Clay Mobley and Jacob Swan. George and Manivanh are both leaders in the club, Raiders for Christ, which organized See You at the Pole. They want to make sure that they present themselves well and always want to make a difference in the school.

“I joined Raiders for Christ because I wanted to be able to connect with other Christians and be able to grow and learn with them,” George said. “There are so many stereotypes about us. People think that we’re annoying, really dogmatic, and forcing but it isn’t true.”

With the help of Coach Matt Spencer, the sponsor of RFC, George and Manivanh know that they will have someone to fall back on and talk to when they need assistance.

“I mainly help the leaders be good at what they do. They lead all the bible studies and worships. They do everything. I’m just here to help,” Spencer said.

See You at the Pole unifies the Christian body.

“This event gives everyone a chance to gather and provide opportunities because everybody goes in so many different directions. It can create big changes in the school and students,” Spencer said.
