Introducing junior Kody Hamilton

Surprised by the call of his name, junior Kody Hamilton stepped out of his place among the trombones in the marching band to receive the Band Student of the Month Award Oct. 3.

“It was a bit surprising and almost embarrassing at first but it was a fun experience,” Hamilton said.

Despite also playing the euphonium, tuba, electric bass and the trumpet, Hamilton still prefers the trombone.

“It is a very versatile instrument as it is written in many clefs and it takes quite a bit of skill to appropriately work the handslide,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton began playing six years ago and is currently first chair in first band.

“I practice about two to four hours a day when I can,” Hamilton said, “It is an escape from other issues.”

Hamilton looks forward to majoring in music in college and being the best he can.
