Four journalism students place at UIL invitational
Journalism is no game to UIL competitors Kyleigh Anderson, Madison Jennings, Carley Rogers and Brooke Vincent.
The four journalism students attended the Melissa invitational UIL meet Feb 1. The competitors came back with five medals
“This is one of the strongest teams I have ever had,” UIL Coach Mrs. Casi Thedford said. “I think they have potential to make it to state.”
Vincent placed first in New Writing, Jennings placed second in News Writing and fifth in Feature Writing, Anderson placed third in Feature Writing and Rogers place third in Editorial Writing.
“Winning first gives me a different outlook on UIL,” Vincent said. “It’s a good start to moving on.”
The girls will compete in one more invitational before attending the District meet March 29 in hopes of moving on to Regionals.
“I am excited for district,” Anderson said. “I truly hope we can all make it to regionals. It will be a fun trip for us all. Write or die, right?”
