On the way to State

Two wrestlers qualify for state

Two East wrestlers, Aaron Gassett and Mason Chadwick, placed second and fourth at the regional meet. They will go on to the state tournament in Garland.

Zech Peltier and Paul Savage placed as first and second alternates.

Savage said that the weekend went really well as a team.

“I feel like I did better this year, than last year’s tournaments,” Savage said.

He qualified as second alternate in his weight class.

“It was disappointing, because I thought I did better,” Savage said.

He is very proud of his teammates, Zech, Mason and Aaron.

“I’m really happy that Mason made it for his senior year. I think they did well and deserved it.”

The loss to Wylie High may have disappointed Gassett, but he is looking forward to competing at state.

“I hope I do well. I’ve never been to state,” Gassett said.

As a senior, this is Chadwick’s last chance to wrestle at state.

“I’m glad Mason made it, too,” Gassett said.
