He waited at the top of the stairs for her to walk across the cafeteria to him. He held purple orchids, her favorite flower and a love letter he was too scared to read.
Senior Anthony Field surprised his girlfriend of one year, sophomore Emma Beebe, with an extravagant proposal to homecoming. Principal Mike Williams called Beebe to the front of the cafeteria and jokingly got down on one knee and pretended to ask her to homecoming.
Beebe wasn’t too surprised to see her boyfriend shyly hiding behind Mr. Williams.
“I saw him with flowers so I knew what was happening but I didn’t think the principal would do it,” Beebe said.
Field was overwhelmed by the whole cafeteria watching his every move and changed his plans mid proposal.
“I made like a whole script but I was too nervous to say it in front of everyone,” said Field, “but I did it in front of the cafeteria because it’s my senior year and I wanted it to be special for her.”
