Four newspaper students, Kyleigh Anderson, Liz Abrams, Brooke Vincent, and Destiny Quezada attended Dallas Morning News’ Journalism day workshops at City Place Event Center April 10.
“It was insightful and motivational. It made me want to be out in the field,” Vincent said.
Each student attended three workshops of their choice; from sports writing to interviewing techniques. Dallas Morning News offered many sessions.
“My favorite workshop was the breaking news session because the speaker, Robert Wilonsky, was very animated and passionate about his career,” Quezada said.
Channel 8 news’ anchor John McCaa spoke to all attendants about journalism relevance in the world and the future of journalism.
“John McCaa was inspirational in the way he spoke about journalism always having a career and news never going away,” Abrams said.
