Students must register before attending college fair

Prior to attending the college fair, students must register at gotocollegefairs.com. Students will print out a barcode that is needed to give contact information to the colleges of the students’ choice.

In the past, students came to the college fair and filled out information forms at each table for the colleges to contact them. This caused congestion at each of the tables. Students became discouraged because of the time it took to speak to a college representative. Missing out on an opportunity to speak to a representative of the college may be the deciding factor in where the student applies.

“The barcode system will allow colleges to contact students and answer questions more effectively,” Counselor Amy Andrews said.

Students going to the college fair can expect to get information that could otherwise be difficult to find if they do not know where to look. By visiting the college fair, students will be able to speak face to face with someone who knows all the information and can get students in touch with department heads to get even more specific information to the students.

“There will be over 60 colleges represented,” Andrews said. “This is a great way to get college information from multiple institutions in one location.”

The college fair is at Wylie High from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 11.
