Strange and obscure dress code rules revealed

No ridiculous hair fads! No visible boxers! No need for socks!

Some dress code rules seem to be a little out there. Those rules are rather funny to see—as if it’s necessary to list them.

The dress code says that sandals or open-toed shoes must have a back strap, and shoes and socks must match. No boxer shorts, obviously. No scarves or ribbons can be used as belts. Zippered shirts are not allowed—I’ve never even seen anything like that.

“Do these rules get broken often?” you may ask. People wear silly socks sometimes. But as for the other rules, they probably keep themselves in line. I mean, wearing boxers on the outside? Have you ever seen a zippered shirt? Come on, Handbook.

There are other rules that are just good to know. No denim is permitted on a regular day, not even jackets. Large jewelry is not allowed. There cannot be any lettering on belts. I didn’t know those until I read the policy through and through.

It’s all easy to follow and dress appropriately—they’ll “undress” you if you don’t. No one wants that.

I never see any crazy violations, like zippered shirts. It’s usually just the un-tucked shirt or missing ID badge. They aren’t as common this year because of the new jean day reward for keeping it in acceptable boundaries.

Everyone should read the dress code and plan their attire accordingly. It doesn’t take long to read, and everything is listed there. Except socks—socks are not required. And these non-required socks can’t be distracting.

And if you just don’t follow it, avoid the people that are tougher on dress code like Ms. Cheng or Mr. Kirkpatrick.

Just remember, the shirt and bottom being the same color is forbidden, you snappy dresser, you.
