The pep rally for varsity football and other fall sports was Sept. 6. This year’s theme was neon. Students dressed up in neon colors, decked out in the theme, ready for the school spirit day. The pep rally was the first one this year, and students were eager to celebrate, enjoy the show and present their talents.
Wylie East’s Sapphires performed during the pep rally. The girls were synchronized, showcasing their creativity in high energy routines. The dance was a hip-hop rendition of many songs and they showed their skills through kicks, jumps and turns, along with their unique outfits.
“I love dancing. We did our team hip hop that we learned at camp,” sophomore Sapphire Madelyn Espinal said. “It was a remix of multiple different songs. I love drill team and I’ve been dancing on it since seventh grade.”
The band also executed a performance, adding life and music to the pep rally.
“I play the trumpet in the marching band,” sophomore Sophie Delgado said. “We played off to the side during the pep rally. I’ve been in band for four years.”
Between dancing, cheering, sports and music, the neon pep rally was a moment to remember.
“My favorite part of the pep rally is when the Sapphires performed,” sophomore Samantha Finch said. “I love pep rallies because they give the school so much spirit and I get to spend time with my friends. Go Raiders!”
