She’s a defensive mid and center back on junior varsity soccer. She loves her family, friends and God more than anything. Long story short, she’s Laila Young.
When did you start playing soccer and why?
I started playing soccer when I was 4 and at the time I played because my dad played and got me into it. But now I’m very passionate about it and love it.
What’s your favorite thing about soccer?
My favorite thing about soccer is the relationships I build with teammates. They really are like another family to me.
What’s your favorite memory from last soccer season?
My favorite soccer memory was scoring in the Sachse game (they’re one of our biggest rivals) and being able to celebrate a big victory with my teammates.
What other hobbies or activities are you involved in?
I am involved in the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) as a competitor and officer.
Who is your biggest role model?
My biggest role model is Jesus. I want to love like Him.
How has playing a sport changed you?
Playing soccer has really helped my character development. I have more leadership and cooperating skills that help me work efficiently with others as well as time management skills by balancing sports with other commitments effectively.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself teaching, hopefully married with kids, a house with my family and going to church every Sunday.
