Second chance
Varsity volleyball gets another chance to qualify for playoffs
October 14, 2016
After their loss two weeks ago, varsity volleyball thought their chance to be in playoffs was over.
“You have to be in the top four of your district to qualify for playoffs, and after we lost, we were fifth,” sophomore on varsity, Destini Cole, said.
This past week varsity found out that they may have another chance to qualify and prove they should be fourth in their district.
“We all want to go to playoffs,” Kaitlin Vickery, setter on varsity, said.
To go to playoffs, varsity volleyball has to beat Mesquite Poteet Oct. 18 for the fourth place title.
“I believe we will beat Poteet in order to qualify for playoffs,” Vickery said.
Last time varsity played Poteet they lost in a close game. This time varsity’s goal is to beat Poteet and once again qualify for playoffs two years in a row.
“I feel hopeful because our team is very competitive,” Vickery said.
If they are able to qualify varsity is striving to go farther this year.
“My goal would to be to get past the first round of playoffs,” Cole said.
