Wrestlers take on Frisco
The wrestling team traveled to Frisco Heritage High School Jan. 23.
The team placed fourth overall out of 17 teams at the varsity tournament.
“I could’ve done better and I was pretty mad about my outcome but I’m proud of the team as a whole, nonetheless,” junior Zane Zercher said.
Second place winners were sophomore Dayron Jackson and freshman Geronimo Saucedo. Fourth place winners were seniors Aaron Gassett and Paul Savage.
“It was challenging. I personally need to get myself into shape by dropping to a weight under my weight class,” said freshman Geronimo Saucedo. “The best part though was beating schools that are tough to beat.”
Several junior varisty members also placed in the top four at their tournament on Friday.
“Overall the tournament was pretty tough. There were 6A schools involved,” senior Paul Savage said. “We did our best and all we need to do now is focus on building and conditioning ourselves.”
The wrestling team will compete in the district tournament Feb. 4.
