Varsity football makes first round of playoffs
“What are we gonna be? Playoff bound” chanted the cheerleaders at the end of the game against the Denison Yellow Jackets Oct. 31.
The varsity football team won 35-21 making them playoff bound for the third time in five years.
“I am proud of the team for doing what no one said we could,” wide receiver Justin Bailey said.
The team’s goal is to win as many games as possible and Friday’s game against Sherman was crucial to securing their final position in district rankings.
“This game on Friday was a must win game,” Bailey said.
The boys finished the district season in third place.
“I am happy with our spot, but I am not satisfied yet,” Bailey said.
The team will play Friday, Nov. 14, at Plano ISD Clark Stadium against Frisco Heritage High School. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
“The playoff game atmosphere is completely different than a district game,” Bailey said. “It is a lot more competitive and a lot more fun. I hope we get to have that experience plenty of times this year.”
Tickets can be bought presale at the Wylie ISD Athletic Office or at either high school. Student tickets are $3 and adult tickets are $6. Tickets at the gate are $8.
