Varsity volleyball defeats Pirates for first time

Acing the game after three years, the varsity volleyball team won against the Lady Pirates Friday, Oct. 3.

“It was amazing,” libaro Alyssa Kapp said. “Knowing we just made history and having that win after losing to them for three years.”

The ladies played five matches beating the Pirates in the fifth match 15-5.

“We tried to remind our girls that they have worked very hard for this,” Coach Kelly Lyons said. “It was their time to earn some respect.”

This victory helps to set the ladies up for playoffs.

“We have to keep focused and keep working hard to continue our success,” outside hitter Julia Pierson said.

Wylie High is the biggest rival game and the Crosstown Showdown is the biggest game of the year for both Wylie schools.

“I would like to thank our amazing coaches for always having confidence in us,” Kapp said. “They know we can do anything we set our minds to.”
