Lady Raider’s soccer team goes further than ever in Championship
Girls’ varsity soccer has broken the third round curse. They are on their way to being state champions.
“Knowing we are three rounds away from state keeps us motivated,” forward Asia Revely said. “Our hard work will pay off.”
The team has won championship games in tournaments, but has never been to the state championship.
“Our hopes as a team are to make it to the state championship,” defender Sam Ramirez said.
The girls are ranked first statewide.
“We learned to take one game at a time and to stay focused in the direction we want to go,” Ramirez said.
Varsity has a team dinner each week. Bonding at those dinners have helped build the team and can be accredited to some of their success on the field.
“We all get along so well,” midfielder Hanah Stone said. “It’s like a family.”
Stone also gives credit to her coaches for putting up with her and her teammates throughout the season.
“I mainly play for God and our coach,” midfielder Addie McCain said.
Each player believes in working hard and making it to state.
“We didn’t come all this way and work our butts off to lose,” Ramirez said.
