Comfort vs. Consequence

Students should just follow dress code rules
With the second semester approaching, it becomes more and more tempting to just throw on some leggings and a hoodie for school instead of following the appropriate pants with a polo rule. While it is easier to wear what you want, it all comes down to one thing: is it worth it?
The crack down on dress code has been on the rise, and while most people don’t agree with it, everyone still has to abide by the rules. When it all comes down to it, the dress code is not that hard to follow.
More people breaking dress code rules means more punishments for the entire student body. How great is it to finally be able to wear t-shirts three days out of the week? Or those cute and comfy jeans on Friday? Those privileges can be taken away in a flash if everyone doesn’t stop violating the dress code. Odds are you’ll have to follow dress code rules for your future career, so this is just another time in your life where you have to deal with it. Nobody wants all their privileges taken away, not to mention a trip to student services and further punishments like In School Suspension.
If you want to keep those days of small freedoms like occasional sweatpants days, you’ve just got to follow the rules. It may not be what you agree with, but it’s not forever. College is the time to wear those yoga pants and sweatshirts or a patterned shirt with some jeans. So stop the leggings, stop the zip ups without a polo, stop the unapproved t-shirts, stop the multi-colored flannels. You’ll survive the school day, and it’ll feel even better when you get home and can finally change into what you want.
