Gov. Rick Perry speaking about finding ‘cure’ for gay rights is ludicrous
August 17, 2014
Wrong. Unhealthy. Preposterous. Ludicrous. All of these things could be used by some to describe the idea of homosexuals and their rights. Governor Rick Perry spoke in San Francisco about the issue of gay rights and compared homosexuality to alcoholism. Perry states that there could be a cure to heal those with homosexual tendencies.
When did our beautiful country lose the belief in love? Today people can walk the streets of Texas, or any given state really, and find protest signs AGAINST homosexuality and the right to love who they want. A man and a man nor a woman and a woman can not marry because the people of the Texas legislature have said that it is ‘wrong’? This is ridiculous.
Homosexuals are doing nothing to affect anyone in anyway. They simply live their lives and love the way everyone else does. A vast amount of people in our country are homosexual and it has caused no problem and will continue not to. The only problem that could come about is the legislature feeling the right to stand in the way of a person’s ability to marry and create a family with the one they love.
Some say that homosexuals are simply ‘following the crowd’ and ‘doing what they think is cool. In fact, Gov. Perry refers to homosexuality as a defect in the brain that is wanted but could be prevented and cured. Yes, homosexuality is an act of want and lust, and could be prevented if one chose not to go down that certain path, but cured? Oh please. Homosexuality should not be treated as a disease because it is not. It is an act of love. The problem in our very conservative Texas Republican Party is that they are looking at homosexuality from a scientific and religious point of view, not from a human point of view.
Fighting for the right to love is the most important fight Americans could ever choose to fight. There will always be opinions that differ, but the people of America that are opposed to the idea of homosexual rights should not be allowed to let their own opinions affect the lives, of others. Stand up for your American brothers and sisters. Let them love. Be a part of the government, take pride in love, and stand up for those who can not stand up for themselves.
