Two teams partner up for a joint fundraiser
The Business Professionals of America organization and Construction Trade classes have teamed up to sell signs and wood plaques to raise money for similar causes. BPA is using the funds to pay for competition and other expenses dealing with the organization’s affairs, while Construction Trade is using the money to fund their solar car project.
BPA sponsor Mr. Stephens and Construction Trade advisor Mr. Roseberry decided to share the fundraising opportunity to benefit both of their organizations.
“Working with Mr. Roseberry and his students has been absolutely great. His students even went above and beyond when pitching the idea to us,” BPA Sponsor Mr. Stephens said. “The boys made an actual business presentation to give us an idea of the fundraising plan.”
The BPA officers are responsible for selling the plaques, while Mr. Roseberry’s second and third period classes are in charge of making the plaques.
“This partnership has allowed both parties to benefit by raising funds towards each party,” BPA President Hai Phan said. “This has allowed woodshop to gain experience in making wood products and it has also allowed BPA members to learn how to market and run a small business.”
Construction Trade members have made a variety of personalized plaques.
“We can make just about anything, we’ve made name plaques, college emblems, and a hand full of other things,” Roseberry said. “Construction Trade will be producing these plaques throughout the year.”
To buy a plaque, locate a BPA student or see Mr. Stephens in room 417 to get an order form. The Construction Trade class is making and painting plaques/signs for University of Texas Longhorns, Texas Tech, the state of Texas, A&M and AHMO. They can also make personalized plaques. The prices range from $15 to $20+.
